I have the original hard cover at home. It was purchased new over a hundred years ago. My parents and grandparents traced our lineage with it and there are many fascinating stories in it making the American history of our family come alive!I have t he original "Downers of America" at my home. I ordered this edition with the intention of gifting it to my cousin. I am sadly disappointed. This is a cut and paste edition of a reference volume. The stories are not coherent and jump back and forth to the point of being incomprehensible! Following your family tree depends completely on being able to reference page numbers which do not apply to this very poor attempt at publishing.
On the first page the publisher begins with excusing the whole book! I strongly recommend that you do not waste your time and money on it.
I will continue to search for the original volume which is an amazing genealogical record of our family that took over 30 years of research between 1869 and 1900. This is a very poor excuse of a copy. It is in fact NOT a copy.
Fortunately I can return is for a refund..

More than I expected. Great job, somewhat hard to follow at times, but outstanding information. Would recommend to anyone following their roots.
Type was large and easy to read. Numbering system used makes it easy to establish lineage. Often information on individuals is provided regarding their occupation, military service or unusual participation in events.
