Haunting, majestic, and powerful, the Columbia River flows down from the rugged Rockies, through the deep, forbidden forests, and across the open plain. Along its banks, bold, strong men of ambition and enterprise sought their fortune. It was a time and a place where the fur trade could make you wealthy...or get you killed. The race to riches along the Columbia rapids was cutthroat, and for every trader and trapper, there was a hired gun or assassin. Into this land of adventure and treachery came Jared Flynn, a man running from his tragic past....

The author doesn't know his geography. The Snake River pours into the Columbia 300 miles away over between Wallula and Pasco, Washington. The Spokane River pours into the Columbia River about 30 miles east of Grand Coulee, Washington. That's way North of the mouth of the Columbia and clear across the State. The story was interesting, but there is no way the characters could move back and forth from the Columbia to the Snake and to the Spokane like he was indicating.Product details

The Columbia River Rivers West Series Book 14 (Audible Audio Edition) Jory Sherman Maynard Villers Books In Motion Books Reviews
Loved the story and the people in it. Wished it would have just went on. Now I will have to read the rest of the Rivers West series.
I liked the book very much as it had a historic ring to country I know very well. I plan to read more books by this author.
I rated Rivers West The Columbia River four stars because I found it a very interesting story. I live in Oregon and much of the story revolves around the Oregon Territory much before statehood. As a retired educator I found the focus on Oregon history both exciting and well grounded in fact. The story unfolds not long after the Lewis and Clark expedition opened the route to the Pacific. I happen to be related to Clark and have always found that time period interesting. I think educators and or people interested in the fur trade, exploration, mountain men, etc. would find this book of interest to them.
I do historical reenactments of the period of history portrayed in these books. They are well researched, as to historic accuracy. They are good stories with interesting characters. I did not exactly like the way this one ended, but it's true to life back then.
This isn't a western, it,s an adventure story about two brother crossing America about five years after Lewis and Clark successfully completed their journey. It's written very well and I enjoyed it and would recommend it to others who like early era Adventure Stories.
PT Lovejoy.
The characters in the Rivers West series are interesting
and believable. The books are full of rascals and heroes.
For an adventure packed read give these books a
look. Although there are a few typos and spelling
errors, the reader can quickly overlook these because
the story line and characters keep the reader enthralled.
An excellent read. It's what I consider to be a realistic approach to a Western story. I normally don't like Westerns, but my husband does. I initially purchased this for him but decided to try it. I'm glad I did. Life was hard in those days, and this author doesn't sugar coat her characters or the day-to-day life they dealt with.
